Ever wonder what it’s really like to work with a web designer? You’re not alone!
At Grassroots Creative Company, I take web design seriously—not just as an art form but as a thoughtful, step-by-step process that brings clients’ ideas to life online. Each project is more than just assembling visuals and pages; it’s about creating meaningful online experiences that resonate with a client’s brand, captivate their audience, and ultimately drive results. Let’s face it: a lot of information comes along with it. So, how do I partner with clients without overwhelming them? Let’s take a look inside the Grassroots Creative Company Web Design Process and see.
In this post, I’m pulling back the curtain (yes, just like in The Wizard of Oz) on what it’s like to work with me. You’ll see how a structured web design process helps me deliver sites that are beautiful, functional, and aligned with each client’s vision. From our first conversation to the final launch, I’ll guide you through each phase, ensuring a smooth and collaborative experience every step of the way. Dive in to learn how Grassroots Creative Company turns concepts into websites that make a lasting impact and empower you as the client with the information you need to know when taking your business online or to the next level for impactful results.
A web design process is a series of steps that guide the creation of a website. Each web designer develops a unique process for designing and collaborating with clients. It includes stages to ensure that the final website meets both the client’s and users’ needs. Further, a web design process provides a roadmap with checkpoints for both designers and clients and…
A straightforward web design process matters because it provides an overview of the website build and communicates the steps a client needs to take. It communicates what needs to happen and when so we can stay on schedule and within the project budget. If a project takes longer to create, the cost increases. So, think of it as a roadmap for your project, a summary of each milestone so we can stay on task and see what’s next.
As a client, I’m sure you want this to be as straightforward as possible to make sense so you can understand it at a glance and move on with your life (I get it you have things to do)
Many of you have never worked with a web designer before, and that’s perfectly fine. However, if you have, you may have found the experience overwhelming. This is where my process comes in to help. It breaks down all the information you need into bite-sized pieces, making it easy for you to see where we are at any time.
Gather all website assets, including logo/brand files, logins, testimonials, FAQs, marketing creative, and, most importantly, photos. Videos are a BONUS.

Over Zoom, we’ll discuss your project goals and ideas for your website, as well as assets. Book a consultation through the website to start.
A custom proposal will be prepared outlining design recommendations, features, and cost options for your website. Choose what you’d like to move forward with.
Coordinate with your photographer BEFORE to confirm a date when everything will be ready. Then, schedule your start date and pay your deposit online to officially book your project.
A secure online agreement with the project dates and payment schedule will be emailed for your signature. Be sure to read this in detail and reach out with questions.
A welcome guide will be sent that includes a content planner to help you with website text and instructions on how to prepare and upload project materials.
On your project start date, we’ll Zoom for up to an hour reviewing the content planner, assets, and deadlines so we can complete it on time and within budget.
Your website will officially be under construction. I’ll get busy designing and will be in touch with up to three drafts for feedback. Edits are due via email within 48 hours.
We’ll connect for up to 1 hour via Zoom to ensure the website is perfect and all final edits have been made. We’ll also discuss strategy and launch details.
Reach for the stars; the best version of your website is LIVE; congratulations! I’m happy to help with any ongoing website support and content updates.
You will notice that the Grassroots Web Design Process emphasizes extensive planning at the beginning, and I made it this way on purpose. With my professional experience in digital marketing, trust me when I say planning is SO important. It can literally make or break a project, and it’s vital that I have everything I need to do my best work. I look forward to partnering with you!
To recap, having a solid web design process ensures that we are on the same page and that I have everything I need to create the best possible website for you and your business.
